Off Road Cycle Routes in Aberfeldy, Kenmore and Weem

Aberfeldy, Kenmore & Weem area has many off road routes here we highlight one or two for you to consider.highland-perthshire-250.jpg

    1. Drummond Hill is a forestry way marked route mainly on forest roads. It can be hard work up to the top of the hill, but once you have succeeded, there are a number of different level tracks and some stunning views. Well worth the climb, don't be tempted to give up the route before you get to half way!

     2. Griffin Forest 2 miles out of Aberfeldy on the A826 towards Crieff, is a beautiful area and you can either follow circular trails around the forest or you can follow a selection of trails back down to Aberfeldy. It is an excellent area for all abilities, and there is trail information at the car park. Some companies may take you, with hired bikes, at Griffin forest for you to make their own way back down.

    3. The old rail track between Aberfeldy and Grandtully is very scenic and perfect for families with a range of ages as it has gentle stretches and more complicated areas. It is suitable for a bike with a baby seat along this trail, although there are places where walking may be necessary. This track does flood when the river is high.

Taymouth Castle is great for school children ( 8-11yr olds) as it has some gentle tracks which are not too off road or strenuous but take the element of cars out of the equation. There are no signs about cycling around the castle, but the tracks around the river are open to the public. The actual Castle is closed to the public, and the nearby golf course should be avoided.

5. Glassie far, is not a set route, but great for those of you who want to explore the area with some fantastic scenery and hill trails. To get there cyclists should leave Aberfeldy on the B846 heading towards Weem over the humpback bridge. Turn right at the Aileen Chraggan Hotel towards Strathtay. Within a mile there is a left hand turn which has a sign post to the Bunkhouse. Follow the road up and there are some lovely forest and hill trails to be found.
