On Monday 29th June there was a meeting of all those interested in cycling in Highland Perthshire. The meeeting took place at the Tully Bar at Grandtully, There were 20 people representing a whole range of cycling interests in Highland Perthshire. The whole event was brought together by Emma Birtles, who very successfully organised the Perthshire Cycle Festival over the Etape Caledonia weekend this May.
Emma started the meeting saying that the Perthshire Cycle Festival had created a lot of interest in Highland Perthshire and it was apparent that there was a feeling that there was an opportunity to see if we could have some joined up thinking on Cycling in Highland Perthshire.
A lot of ground was covered during the meeting with a general agreement that there was a great opportunity for Cycling in Highland Perthshire.
It was agreed that
- an application for funding should be put together for a Highland Perthshire Cycle Project Officer,
- everyone would be updated on the Highland Perthshire mountain track route proposals,
- and a forum web site would be set up so cycle groups and activities can be coordinated across Highland Perthshire.
