Etape Cyclists' Views

Etape particpants Comments:-
We thought it might be an idea to bring you a few comments from people who completed the course. Some people were interviewed at the finish line and others were interviewed once they had showered and dried off.

rory-mcdonald-etape-2007.jpgThe Etape course and training by:-
Rory MacDonald who is the third generation to run the family business MacDonald Bros Butchers in Pitlochry. Rory lives in Aberfeldy about 20 minutes car journey from Pitlochry. It should also be said that Rory is a relatively fit young man running marathons, climbing Kilimanjaro and the such like.

Rory very kindly agreed to talk to me about Etape Caledonia as some one new to cycling and having completed the course last year. We have broken the interview down in to short clips so you can clip in to listen to specific segments that you choose:-

preparations
morning of the race
race start organisation

The race route itself:-
Start to Rannoch
Loch Rannoch Loop
The Schiehallion climb and down to Cochieville

Coshieville to Dull
Dull to Logierait

Logierait to Pitlochry - the sting in the tail of the course

Race tips
Anything else

Rory and Annette and their family run a wonderfull Bed and Breakfast in Aberfeldy called Fernbank House, a short drive to Pitlochry. As a keen local cyclist I am sure Rory would be only too pleased to help you our with any local advise on cycling during your stay.
