How to get to Highland Perthshire

Highland Perthshire is located in the geographic centre of Scotland. The A9 trunk road is the main arterial route for road traffic from the industrial central belt of Scotland connecting the cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow to the north, Inverness and Loch Ness. Along the A9 you will also see the main rail line and main bus routes.

The Highland Perthshire towns of Dunkeld, Pitlochry and Blair Atholl are situated just off the A9. Each has its own railway station, and coach stops. From these towns it is very easy to get to the other towns and villages in Highland Perthshire especially if you have your own car, better still your own bicycle.

Air flights.

Three of Scotland's principal airports are within easy driving distance.

Edinburgh Airport is probably the easiest international airport to get to the Highland Perthshire towns of Aberfeldy, Blair Atholl, Dunkeld & Birnam, Pitlochry and Kenmore. It is about 1hr 20 mins away on a traffic free drive through Edinburgh.

Glasgow Airport is on the south side of Glasgow which means, one has to drive on the M8 right through the middle of Glasgow. If the traffic is running smoothly and the roads are clear driving time will take about 1 hour 45 mins, with heavy traffic, put another hour on the times.

Inverness Airport does not take many international flights, but cheap internal flight operators use Inverness so you may be able to get a better deal by flying to Inverness. The drive time from Inverness to Highland Perthshire is of the order of 1hour 30 minutes.
