100m BEFORE trees clear, just as you begin to see the fantastic views of the Appin Valley STOP!  Look RIGHT, you will see a BIG LAYBY, follow the SMALL WALKING PATH out of the layby, up the hill, through the trees (approx 100m).  You have gone too far if you are still on the Forest road and have reached a cleared area.
Follow the walking path and you will reach a cleared area, here there are awesome views of the Appin Valley, with Loch Tay in the distance and the market town of Aberfeldy below, can you spot General Wades Bridge?  The ruined village in front of you is called Rawer.
Follow path along the side of the hill, through the ruined village until you reconnect with the forestry road.  Turn LEFT when you reach this road to a steel gate.  Once you are through the gate, there will be a white house on your right, this is Shenaval House where Tommy Dewar lived (Dewars Whisky).  At next junction option to turn right to Loch Farleyer and Glassie Route or Dull Forest.
