Highland Perthshire Road Bike Cycle Routes

aberfeldy-to-kenmore,-forti.jpgAberfeldy to Kenmore, Fearnan, Fortingall, Weem and back to Aberfeldy (18 miles) – You can start from a number of places on this route – Aberfeldy, Kenmore, Fortingall or Weem all have facilities for the non-cyclist to enjoy. 

 

 

 

Blair Atholl to KilliecrankBlair Atholl to Killiecrankie – 15km allow 1hr 30mins?
This route takes you on the back route (that part used by lorries to Sheerglass quarry) from Blair Atholl to Killiecrankie, up to Tenandry Church, a short steep climb, where you are rewarded with some spectacular views up Glen Girnaig to Carn Liath (3,197ft) and Beinn a Ghlo (3,673ft), then down to the Garry Bridge which has great views up the Pass of Killiecrankie and back to Blair Atholl along the B8079.

 

 

 

 

 

Fortingall through Glen LyonFortingall, Glen Lyon to Bridge of Balgie along the north Loch Tay road to Fearnan - Fortingall down the magnificent Glen Lyon to Bridge of Balgie then up the shoulder of Ben Lawers 3,984ft to the A827 and along the north Loch Tay road to Fearnan and back to Fortingall.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Loch Rannoch loopLoch Rannoch Loop – 30km allow 1.5hrs
This route is mostly along the route taken by the Etape Caledonia route.
Start in Kinloch Rannoch to Bridge of Gaur and back along the south shore of the loch through ancient Black Wood of Rannoch to Kinloch Rannoch.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Pitlochry to GrandtullyPitlochry to Grandtully – 21km, allow 4hrs
Includes the final stage of the Etape Caledonia route.
This route can start in Pitlochry (where you can leave the non-cyclists in your party to enjoy themselves). The route takes you on back roads, joining the A827 at Ballinluig to Logierait over the River Tay on to the B8988 joining the A827 again before getting to Grandtully, where you cross over the River Tay to Strathtay going through Pitnacree on the A827 and back to the B898 to Logierait. From Logierait you follow the final stage of the Etape Caledonia route climbing out of Logierait along a quiet back road which takes you in to Pitlochry via Milton of Fonab past the caravan site.

 

 

 

 

 

Pitlochry to Tummel Bridge and back along the Foss Road – 39km allow 3hrs 30mins
